Each dog is trained with precision by certified professionals in obedience, public access, and task-specific skills. Our approach centers on relationship-building, not just commands—ensuring every dog becomes a trusted partner, not just a tool.

By taking this approach we realize that only 1 out of 4 dogs rescued will pass the training to become a service dog and that is ok. All dogs are carefully screened and those who do not pass as service dogs, find loving homes as well-trained dogs. Service dogs are task-trained dogs.

We use the same selection criteria for our dogs as do organizations with a breeding program. We search for dogs with the right temperament, age and physical traits.

Rescued dogs between 1-2 years old who exhibit friendly and confident behavior are brought to our training facility for 4-6 weeks to undergo rigorous training and observation of their capabilities. After 6 weeks, those dogs that qualify move into our service dog training program. Those who do not qualify either move into our therapy dog division or they find new loving homes as well-trained dogs. Our goal is to find homes for our flunkies, not return them back to the shelter. All trained service dogs will ultimately pass the ATTS Temperament test and the CGC Canine Good Citizen test for their certification.
